Hello everyone and happy Friday! This is Keith Maki with the first edition of what will hopefully become a familiar newsletter for the GPoAC. It was determined at the extra meeting last weekend that it would be useful to have a weekly mailer summarizing general information about upcoming events, so if anyone has notes they would like included in a given week's mailer, please send them to firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks!
A few reminders and updates...
We will be having our regular monthly party meeting next Thursday, September 1st, starting at 7pm. This will likely be at the usual location (the Citizen Power building at 2121 Murray Ave.), but please check the website at gpoac.org for the most up-to-date location information, as we are looking for larger/more accessible options for the monthly party meetings moving forward.
The Jill Stein/Green Party fundraiser, organized by Joe Boots, is two weeks away, September 9th and 10th. You can find a flier for the event attached. Please plan on coming to the event even if you are not volunteering!
Additionally, there is a night-time block party called the Squirrel Hill Night Market happening September 17th from 6-10pm. This would be a great opportunity to leaflet/raise visibility for the Green Party and progressive issues in general. We will discuss ideas for this at the party meeting next Thursday.
In conjunction with the previous two items and the general enthusiasm of the first Pittsburgh Peace Lights outing, we are considering investing in a green party light brigade banner to raise awareness for the Green Party at nighttime events. We will discuss the costs and potential uses of such a banner at the meeting next Thursday, and if it is determined to be a worthwhile investment we will also discuss what to put on it and when to put it together. "VOTE GREEN", "IT'S IN OUR HANDS", and "GPOAC.ORG" have all been suggested for possible messages, but feel free to bring other ideas to the meeting.
Finally, a reminder that there is a Jill2016 campaign stop in the works for Pittsburgh. We are looking into options for a rally at one of the universities, and will discuss the state of planning at the meeting next week.
Thanks for reading all the way through. We hope to see you all on Thursday! Feel free to forward this to others, and just email me here if you'd like something to be included next week.
We post news from our local, but also from the state and national party too! Check us out. Come back often.
