Great turnout for the CNN Green Party Town Hall Watch Party!
On August 17th the Green Party of Allegheny County hosted a party to watch the Green Party Town Hall on CNN.
About 40 people attended; many new faces, young and old (and young at heart) alike! Green Party members, Democrats, Independents, activists of all kinds, college students, retirees -a diverse crowd was present.
The event was held at Ryan's Pub & Grill (near Frick park). Jim Sheets, a former Bernie Sanders organizer and Robert Piemme, the Green Party of Allegheny County's vice-chairman quickly put together this event. Ryan's Pub was a meeting place for some of Bernie's supporters and Jim offered to contact the restaurant to see if we could host a Jill 2016 related event there. Thus this event was born.
A few folks who attended offered to share their thoughts with us:
Keith Maki, a 24-year-old PhD student at Carnegie Mellon says he's voting for Jill Stein because he doesn't trust politicians whose platforms reflect the political climate, rather than their values. "I love the way Jill Stein's whole political platform is motivated by a sincere ideology," he says. "She's the only candidate who's not beholden to corporate lobbyists and special interests, and she speaks intelligently and from the heart."
“I really enjoyed the CNN watch party. It was nice to see a room packed full of folks who, like me, are voting for the greater good, not the lesser evil,” said Robert Piemme, 27, Green Party member and college student.
We post news from our local, but also from the state and national party too! Check us out. Come back often.
